OnePlus 10R
The OnePlus 10R is a continuation of OnePlus line of value flagship devices, which are pretty consistent in the market. A 120Hz AMOLED screen, a primary 50MP triple camera that can record in 4K, 80W fast charging, a huge battery at 5000mAh and the new flagship nextgen Mediatek Dimensity 8100-Max 5G, chipset. This phone is spec’d out quite nice on top of being competitively priced.
Design
The OnePlus 10R comes with a 6.7-inch 120Hz Fluid AMOLED screen with a left aligned punch hole design for the selfie camera. it has even bezels and a very narrow chin, with a screen to body ratio of 90.0%. It an aspect ratio of 20:9 and supports HD10+ which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. It has a plastic frame and back, and a glass Corning Gorilla 5 front panel. It is very bright and vivid, peaking at industry leading 1300 nits. It’s rated IP68 for dust and water protection, so it surely is splash proof. Unfortunately, it loses the headphone jack. It has a fast under display fingerprint sensor. It does support stereo speakers, offering great sound when playing media.
Performance
The OnePlus 10R brings in the heat with latest flagship Mediatek Dimensity 8100-Max, from the next generation range of Mediatek flagship 5G chips, making it very fast and excellent for gaming. It has a Octa-core 2.85Ghz CPU with storage options of 8/12 GB for RAM & 128/256 GB for ROM. It has no expandable memory option though. Paired with the smooth 120Hz AMOLED screen, running the latest Android 12 with OxygenOS 12.1 skin on top, the performance feels very fast and premium. OxygenOS has been industry leading for years, having been the next closest OS to stock android after the Pixel skin. Everything feels fast, fluid and rich in colour.
Cameras
The OnePlus 10R has a triple camera arrangement on the back. It comes with an excellent 50MP primary sensor, with 12.5MP picture binning for those excellent daylight photos. There is also an extra 8MP ultra wide with a 120˚ FOV, for group and landscape photos, and an 2MP macro for close up pictures. The video can support upto 4K video @30fps and 1080p@30/60/120fps with auto-HDR supports & gyro-EIS plus OIS stability assistance. It has a selfie camera at a generous 16MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps with gyro-EIS. The selfies and videos are great and well exposed.
Other features
The OnePlus 10R has an excellent 80W fast charging, which can charge the phone to 100% in 32 mins. That in addition to the fact that it also comes with a huge Li-Po 5000mAh non-removable battery. Even with a high refresh rate screen power screen, this should be more than a days’ worth device. There is also wired reverse charging of unspecified wattage. It does support NFC for contactless paying.
Similarly, priced phones would include the Sony Xperia 1 III, Samsung Galaxy S22+ 5G, Google Pixel 6 Pro and Motorola Edge 30 Pro. The main talking points would be the high refresh rate screen, the flagship Dimensity 8100-Max chipset and the cameras. With the high refresh rate 120Hz AMOLED screen, its offers an experience that only the best devices in the market can only strive to achieve.
Even for the price, it’s an excellent, top of the range device. The best 5G flagship Mediatek chipset, huge immersive 120Hz AMOLED screen and impressive camera systems. The cameras go all the way to 4K video recording, a feature only the best phones can boast of. It comes in Sierra Black and Forest Green.
