The only thing the Apple iPhone 8+ has better than the iPhone 8 is a bigger display and a dual primary camera setup. But it all boils down to preference, others like a big display on a phone while others do not mind a smaller screen. Let us now take a look at the Apple iPhone 8 in detail.
Design and build
The Apple iPhone 8 looks quite a lot like its predecessor, the Apple iPhone 7. A full metal and glass build that see the Apple iPhone 8 measure about 148 grams. It has these dimensions, 138.4 mm tall, 67.3 mm wide, and is 7.3 mm thick. It has that slim design that makes it look very sleek and comfortable to hold at the same time. Facing you is its 4.7 inches display panel, a call speaker, and a selfie camera on the top bezel. A physical home button on the lower bezel doubles as a fingerprint sensor. It is a very quick and effective one. On the backside is a simple and clean iPhone setup featuring a secondary camera with an LED flash on the top right corner, iPhone branding on the lower bottom, and an outstanding Apple logo in the upper middle of the back. It is a typical iPhone the Apple iPhone 8 except this time, it comes with a glass back to allow for wireless battery charging. The build is great and it is an attractive smartphone generally. Also to mention, it is IP67 certified, which means your phone is dust and waterproof for 30 minutes and up to 1.5 meters in either.
Display and camera
It has a 4.7 inches display (as already mentioned) LED backlight IPS LCD capacitive touch screen that supports 16 M colors and multi-touch that has a 750 x 1334 pixels (326 PPI pixel density) resolution and has a 65% screen to body ratio. The display is also protected with an ion strengthened glass, oleophobic coating. It has a wide color gamut display, supports a 3D touch display (and home button), and is a true tone display. The display on the Apple iPhone 8 is very impressive. The display is vibrant with good color representation and just about the right brightness at all times. It is among the top IPS LCD displays on the market today (2017). Sunlight readability on the iPhone 8 has also been made possible by Apple.
Camera
Unlike the iPhone 8+, the iPhone 8 only has two cameras. One on the back and the selfie camera. The primary camera is a 12MP shooter with phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization, and a quad-LED flash. It has these features geo-tagging, simultaneous 4K video recording and 8MP image recording, touch focus, face/smile detection, and HDR (photo/panorama). The selfie camera is a 7MP shooter with face detection, HDR, and panorama.
- Video recording stands at 2160p@24/30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240fps.
- The camera performance on this smartphone is top-notch and very much impressive.
Performance and memory
The iPhone 8 has these features. It comes running iOS 11, has an Apple A11 Bionic chipset, and a Hexa core CPU. Internal memory is either 64 GB or 256 GB and it has no support for an SD card.
Battery
Its battery will last you up to a whole day of mixed usage. It supports wireless charging and fast battery charging as well. With it you go from 0 t0 50% in just 30 minutes.
Sound
I think the only thing I can say here is, that there is no 3.5mm jack. There is a lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack though just in case. Active noise cancelation with a dedicated mic is on deck and its loudspeaker comes with stereo speakers.
Communication and network
WLAN (Wi-Fi, dual-band, hotspot), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS (with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO), NFC (Apple Pay only), and 3.0 reversible connector. Network: GSM, CDMA, HSPA, and EVDO. The iPhone 8 is a smartphone I would recommend any day and any time. It has great camera performance and impressive platform performance. It comes with a choice of three colors – silver, space grey, and gold. Have your choice.
